Every time April Wine passes through Halifax, Myles does some visiting. One of his visits is to a friend of mine named John who helps run the hippest record store in the city called Taz records. John told me about growing up together and sharing record collections. Myles and John talk to each other during almost every Halifax visit. Well, recently John's business and friend partner passed away. I've gotten to know him too: Bob Switzer is his name and he's been an influence on my life and the brightest spark of Halifax. He is literally a musicologist.
Mostly he's been the reason for any significant trip to Halifax from New Glasgow. I am heartsick since he's gone. He was a good man and we'll not ever feel that glorious feeling of being helped to buy music by someone who was an expert. Plus, he was a fine human being.
